It’s A Girl!

Welcome Rowena, the first butterfly to eclose. I will never tire of watching this. What an exciting, hope filled day for Portland.

Rowena will hang from her chrysalis for about 4 hours while her wings dry and harden. After that she will be ready to fly, but I will wait for at least one of her siblings to join her so she does not have to be alone. They often roost in trees in groups for the night.
